Challenge Exam – Test Out Policy ITT Tech

This policy is only in effect from October 2016 to August 2017

The option of a prorated challenge exam- test out is available for students who have successfully obtained 30 credits or more at ITT Technical Institute only. Students who believe they have adequate knowledge of the subject may request to obtain credit by examination. Students are allowed to take up to five challenge exams. The fee for the first exam will be free of charge. Any additional exams will have a $25.00 fee. All fees must be paid in full prior to taking the exam.

Challenge Exam- Test Out Process ITT Tech

  1. Enrollment will review awarded credits to the prospective student: If prospective student feels more credits should have been awarded, enrollment will direct the student to the Registrar’s office.
  2. The Registrar’s office will then review the previous ITT Technical Institute transcript in order to see if the student can qualify for a challenge exam(s).
    • Student will also obtain the Challenge Exam form in the Registrar’s office.
  3. Students will then need to meet with the appropriate department advisor to set up and schedule a time for the challenge exam to take place.
    • The instructor will determine eligibility and will appropriately schedule the date and time of the challenge exam.
  4. Once approved the student must meet with the Student Business office to make payment on the exam(s).
    • The student business office must sign off on the form to indicate that the exam has been paid in full.
  5. Lastly, the form must be returned to the Registrar’s office for final signature and approval before the exam can take place.

If the student successfully passes the challenge exam with a “C” or better, they will be awarded the appropriate credit for the course. Grades earned on the challenge exam will be placed on the student’s transcript after successfully completing their first semester at Johnson College.

** Student will only have the ability to test out of any individual course once.
