LOANS
Johnson College participates in the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP) which includes Federal Stafford Loans and PLUS (loans for parents). To be eligible for these loans, you must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After completing the FAFSA and turning in all the necessary documents, you will receive an award letter stating the Stafford loan type and amount you are eligible for. When you apply for the loan we will mail you several forms to complete. During the process, you will need to select a lender.
Currently, dependent undergraduate students enrolled in a degree-seeking program may borrow per year up to
- $2,625 as a freshman
- $3,500 as a sophomore
- $5,500 as a junior or senior
For the 2007-08 academic year, loan limits will change to the following:
- $3,500 as a freshman
- $4,500 as a sophomore
- $4,000 as a freshman or sophomore
Parent Plus Loans
Parents of dependent students may apply for a Federal PLUS Loan. This loan can be used to supplement other financial aid awarded to a student, such as the Federal Stafford Loan. The student must first complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Repayment of the Federal PLUS Loan is not deferrable. Parents must begin repayment 60 days after the entire loan has been disbursed.
