Course Information
All classes listed below are offered either during the day (8am-2:15pm) or during the evenings (4pm – 10:15pm).

Basic Cutting and Welding for Pressure Pipelines
16 weeks – Monday through Thursday – 25 hours per week - 400 hours total

Goal:  To provide the participant with a comprehensive overview of oxyacetylene cutting, shielded metal arc welding and pipe welding through classroom and hands on training.  Pipe training will focus on the API 1104 code.

Employment Opportunities:   Jobs can be found in the natural gas industry.  Types of positions are: entry level welders and basic pipefitters for gas industry.

Tuition:  $7,000

Personal Equipment:  $550
(includes: gloves, goggles, safety glasses, helmet, leather jacket, work boots, chipping hammer and wire brush)

Pipe Welding
5 weeks – Monday through Thursday – 25 hours per week - 125 hours total

Goal:  Student selects one of two tracks:

  1.  API 1104 code – gas for pipelines
  2. ASME Section IX code – boilers and pressure vessels

Once course competencies are mastered, student may be eligible to take corresponding certification testing.  (Note:  Testing is not currently offered at Johnson College and course tuition does not include related testing fees).

Employment opportunities:  For those students in the API 1104 code track, jobs can be found as pipe welders for the natural gas industry.  For those students in the ASME Section IX code track, jobs can be found across multiple industry sectors as a pipe welder.

Tuition:  $2,500
