Adjunct Instructors for Fall 2009 Semester
Due to continued growth and expansion of programs, Johnson College, a two-year technical college located in Scranton PA, has openings for Adjuncts for the Fall of 2009 for the following positions:

Math Adjunct Instructor
Applicants will be required to teach College Algebra and Trigonometry. Ability to teach basic Physics and Chemistry a plus. Must be able to work with Microsoft Office Applications. A Masters Degree required in Math or Math Education.

Freshman Seminar Adjunct Instructor
The Freshman Seminar is a semester-long interdisciplinary introduction to the first year college experience, including policies and resources, study skills, test preparation, use of college resources, technology, electronic mail, academic and career planning, time and money management, and discussion of relevant contemporary topics in health and wellness. A Masters degree is required.

Chemistry Adjunct Instructor
This course emphasizes the fundamentals of basic chemistry. Students will be taught the concept of atoms, molecules and compounds; the arrangement of atoms within the periodic table; balanced chemical equations; stoichiometry; the ideal gas law and solutions. Course will be taught in the evening after 4:00 pm. A Masters Degree is required.

Administrative Assistant for the Development Office
The Administrative Assistant for the Development Office shall report directly to the Director of Development. He/she provides office support to the Development Office. The position entails a wide variety of functions. She/he must have demonstrated ability and maturity to deal confidentially with sensitive situations and information. Must be understanding and supportive of the mission of Johnson College and firmly support the College’s core values.
• Provides clerical assistance directly related to the Development Office including the creation of letters and other correspondence; large mailings; collating promotional packets, sending faxes and emails, filing, etc.;
• Provides support on special projects within the department, including website updates and writing articles for the various department publications, developing promotional pieces;
• Is responsible for tracking college-wide community service projects, taking photos of the projects, writing and submitting photos and press releases to all media contacts and updating the Johnson College blog;
• Responsible for processing all print & communication requests within the college, including but not limited to, promotional pieces, business cards, letterhead and envelopes, etc.;
• Serves as primary photographer for the department and provides services to the other college departments when needed;
• Is responsible for updating and tracking social media information on the Johnson College Facebook page and YouTube account;
• Serves as the liaison for the department to the College’s Commencement Committee, representing the Development Office, assisting with press communications, the graduation program and photographs;
• Provides assistance with events and meetings relating to the Development Office, including but not limited to ordering food, reserving and setting up special venues, preparing invitations, preparing copies of pertinent documents, developing meeting notices or other related pieces, etc.;
• Serves as first point of contact for the R&D Center – will greet and direct visitors and will manage the appropriate calendars to be aware of all meetings going on and the schedules of the director, development assistant and other staff members in the building;
• Assumes other duties as directed by the Director of Development, as necessary and appropriate.

Skills needed are:
• Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
• The ability to maintain and use data in MS Excel and Access.
• Familiarity with development software product like Raiser’s Edge.
• Handle confidential material and situations in discreet, professional manner.
• Effectively work in a small team setting.
• Working knowledge of social networks.

An Associate degree preferred.
Experience in an administrative office is a plus; preferably in a higher education environment.

Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) - Department Chair
Candidates must have a minimum of four (4) years practical work experience in the HVAC industry and possess an Associate Degree in HVAC or related subject. They must be proficient in HVAC systems and the corresponding theoretical understanding of their operation. The department chair will be responsible for managing the department and teach technical classes.

Veterinarian
Johnson College, located in Scranton, PA is seeking veterinarians to teach in the veterinary technology program. Ideal candidates should have a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree, with at least four (4) years clinical experience preferred. Teaching experience, and familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint also preferred. This position will involve teaching and mentoring veterinary technician students during their educational experiences at Johnson College which includes clinical rotations through the Johnson College Animal Care Center, our hands-on small animal wellness center.

Responsibilities include routine clinical duties of veterinarians with full utilization of technicians, including routine surgical procedures, as well as teaching in classroom and lab settings. Position will be for the academic year mid August to mid May. We offer a competitive salary with complete benefits package including 401(k) plan, health insurance, etc.

Johnson College, located in Scranton, PA has an opening for adjunct/part-time instructors to teach in the veterinary technology program. Ideal candidates should have at least an AS degree in veterinary technology, or equivalent degree, with at least four (4) years clinical experience. Pennsylvania certification as well as teaching experience, and familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint also preferred. This position will involve teaching and mentoring veterinary technician students during their educational experiences at Johnson College.

Responsibilities include teaching in classroom and lab settings and some routine clinical duties. Position will be for the academic year mid August to mid May.
