Adjunct Instructors for Fall 2008 Semester

(Master’s degree required for these 3 credit courses)

- Introduction to Statistics (MAT 121)
Introduce students to the basic concepts of data collection, data analysis and statistical inference. Some topics included are graphical and descriptive statistics, sampling and hypothesis testing.

- Developmental Math (MAT 0100)
Covers arithmetic with the real number system, introduction to the metric system, linear equations, polynomial and rational expressions and their simplification.

- Microcomputers (CPT 101)
Provides a basic overview of microcomputer fundamentals and applications. Majority of coursework centered around MS Office products.

- Freshman Seminar (FS 101)
This is designed to help freshmen adjust to the college environment, develop a better understanding of the learning process and acquire essential academic survival skills.

Continuing Education Adjunct Instructors
The Continuing Education Department of Johnson College is seeking adjunct instructors for Fall 2008 openings in the evening Electronics Program. Qualified applicants should have a minimum of a two-year degree and 4 years of technical experience with the capability to teach some of the following courses:

DC Electricity and Instrumentation
Alternating Current and Passive Devices
Digital Electronics I
Communications Electronics I and II

Electrical Construction and Maintenance Instructor
Johnson College, a two-year technical college located in Scranton, PA, is seeking an Electrical Construction and Maintenance Instructor.

The instructor will manage, maintain and supervise coursework assigned to them; be responsible for student and course assessment, developing and maintaining course syllabus, provide assistance to the department chair with development of department budget, selection of textbooks and library materials, student advisement, assisting in student recruitment and retention and to reinforce College and ACCSCT policies and guidelines, promoting the College’s mission, participating in College events and acting as a liaison between students and the department chair.

Minimum requirements are an Associates Degree plus four years experience of documented field related employment. Applicant must have either a master electricians’ license or experienced with motor controls and programmable logic controllers, strong communication skills, ability to teach, good managerial skills, knowledge of industry standards, assessment skills, organizational and word-processing skills. Must be able to perform physical requirements of a technician/clinician in their area of expertise plus possess and maintain any licenses/certifications (if applicable.)

This is considered a full time position and will follow the faculty schedule.

Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) - Department Chair
Candidates must have a minimum of four (4) years practical work experience in the HVAC industry and possess an Associate Degree in HVAC or related subject. They must be proficient in HVAC systems and the corresponding theoretical understanding of their operation. The department chair will be responsible for managing the department and teach technical classes.

Veterinarian
Johnson College, located in Scranton, PA is seeking veterinarians to teach in the veterinary technology program. Ideal candidates should have a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree, with at least four (4) years clinical experience preferred. Teaching experience, and familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint also preferred. This position will involve teaching and mentoring veterinary technician students during their educational experiences at Johnson College which includes clinical rotations through the Johnson College Animal Care Center, our hands-on small animal wellness center.

Responsibilities include routine clinical duties of veterinarians with full utilization of technicians, including routine surgical procedures, as well as teaching in classroom and lab settings. Veterinary Technician Instructor
Johnson College, located in Scranton, PA has an opening for adjunct/part-time instructors to teach in the veterinary technology program. Ideal candidates should have at least an AS degree in veterinary technology, or equivalent degree, with at least four (4) years clinical experience. Pennsylvania certification as well as teaching experience, and familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint also preferred. This position will involve teaching and mentoring veterinary technician students during their educational experiences at Johnson College.

Responsibilities include teaching in classroom and lab settings and some routine clinical duties. Position will be for the academic year mid August to mid May.
