On January 15, 2010, Alumnus Michael J. Bartkovsky ‘72, Construction Services Manager, McTish, Kunkle and Associates Consulting Engineers, returned to Johnson College’s campus in order to recruit Architectural Drafting and Design students.
McTish, Kunkle and Associates offers Professional Consulting Engineering and Environmental and Construction Management Services to a wide range of clients throughout Pennsylvania including PennDOT, Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, municipal governments, airports, railroads, public and private agencies, residential and commercial developers, and the construction industry. Federal stimulus money supports these projects.
Mr. Bartkovsky spoke to the students about the recent job openings made possible by his company’s work with PennDOT. He explained that while unemployment is currently affecting many people, individuals employed in this field are fortunate. “This is where the work is, and everyone knows roads always have to be fixed,” he said.
McTish, Kunkle, and Associates is looking for motivated and ambitious individuals. “We want you to be eager to learn and enthusiastic,” he stated. The positions available are for transportation construction inspectors and construction management. Duties for these jobs include writing reports, quality control, doing calculations, taking measurements, practicing safety, and handling documentation. The Architectural Drafting and Design students were eager to obtain job applications.
Mr. Bartkovsky asserted that attending Johnson College was a great opportunity for him and is happy that the College continues to provide hands-on training for students.
