On March 17, 2010, over twenty employers visited Johnson College for its 2010 Spring Career Fair.
Over one hundred Johnson College students, alumni, faculty, and staff members were able to network with industry professionals. Visiting organizations presented career possibilities for each of the College’s thirteen majors. Keystone College, Marywood University, and Pennsylvania College of Technology School of Business and Computer Technologies, which have articulation agreements with the College, were also on hand to highlight opportunities for further education.
Recruiters spoke highly of the technical expertise and professional attitude of the students and alumni. Alumnus Joseph G. Bruchko ’75, General Superintendent of Quandel Construction Services, attended the fair in order to recruit for four immediate positions available within his company. Familiar with the College’s hands-on education and industry-driven curriculum, Mr. Bruchko was pleased with the amount of interest in his company’s job openings. “It doesn’t get any better than this,” he stated, speaking of the quality of the applicants.
Roseann Martinetti, Associate Director of Constituent Relations, organized the 2010 Spring Career Fair. Alumnus Dave Boniello ’84, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Simplex Industries, Inc., was invited to address the attendees. Mr. Boniello reminded the crowd to take full advantage of the fair. He encouraged applicants to speak to company representatives and ask questions. “Find a good fit,” he said. Mr. Boniello also eased fears about the state of the economy and the national increase in unemployment, declaring, “Don’t allow anyone to tell you that you won’t get a job because times are tough. You are making connections today that will last a lifetime.”
Ms. Martinetti shared, “The students and alumni appreciated the professional and worthwhile opportunities the fair presented. All of the recruiters requested to be invited back for another career fair.” Plans are now underway for the 2010 Johnson College Fall Career Fair.
