Johnson College’s Diesel Truck Technology Program recently received two charitable in-kind donations. In-kind donations are contributions of goods or services that support and improve the operations of an organization.
The first gift came from one of Johnson College’s own students. Mr. Raymond Berger, a senior in the Diesel Truck Technology program, donated a NAPA Torque Wrench with ½ inch drive flex head (25-250 lbs). A torque wrench is used when the precise tightness of screws and bolts is critical.
“It might not look like much, but it’s a tremendous help,” states Mr. Michael Novak, Diesel Truck Technology Chair.
Another donation came from a community friend. Mr. Turner McDonald, Executive Vice President of Philadelphia’s CSTK East, LLC, supplied a refrigeration unit, otherwise known as a reefer unit. Reefer units are used in diesel trucks that ship temperature controlled products.
“Most of the foods that you ate today came in on a truck using one of these units,” Mr. McDonald explained.
In-kind donations like those from Mr. Berger and Mr. McDonald offer students at Johnson College new training materials and tools that enhance the study of their trade.

Diesel has been the mainstay for commercial applications for many years. It is a shame that it has taken so long for diesel to catch on in the automobile industry. Thanks to Volkswagen and the Clean diesel TDI technology the diesel has become popular in automobiles. If more people drove diesel powered vehicles there wouldn’t be a fuel energy crisis today.
If more people used Diesel power maybe the cost of a gallon of Diesel fuel would come down. Diesel fuel is easier to make than Gasoline.
No kidding right? The problem is people think that diesel is bad for the environment because it’s “black.”
I have always been a diesel lover! Improvements in efficiency and better sound insulation over recent years have made it a real alternative to gasoline.
Diesel is as popular as petrol (gas) here in the UK
It’s great to see community getting behind these kids. The wider and more varied an education a person gets, the more valuable they will be to their future employers.
That’s good. It’s nice to have such organization and people who help.
Noisy engines, black exhaust and of course sluggish functioning of old Diesel cars are over thanks to Clean Diesel Technology. Let’s just don’t forget that Diesel is the most effective internal combustion engine. As such, clean diesel technology will have a clear-cut influence on next generation customer preferences.
Now a days diesel commercial trucks are high technology vehicles, causing less pollution. But even though every commercial truck owner should have commercial truck insurance to avoid unnecessary complications.

Never underestimate the Torque Wrench! I still remember when my dad gave me my first torque wrench. I had no idea what it did at first, but have grown fond of it over the years.
