Johnson College Observes Earth Week

For the week of April 20th – 24th, Johnson College observed and participated in “green” activities to promote environmental awareness and sustainable lifestyles in celebration of Earth Week. Throughout the week, the College’s Green Team, which was formed in 2008, sent out a daily emails with green living tips. The tips covered conservation of water, paper recycling, and reducing energy usage.

At the end of the week, the College gave out eco-friendly, green, reusable water bottles to the campus community in order to reinforce their message to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

In addition to the Green Team’s Earth Week celebration, Johnson College’s Employee Fun Committee participated in a Clean-up Day on Tuesday, April, 21st which consisted of mulching, weeding, and cleaning up Providence Square on Main Avenue in Scranton. Twelve employees participated in the Clean-up Day. “It was a great day. It was fun and it was also nice to see co-workers enjoy helping out our environment,” said Katie Leonard, Director of Development.
