Johnson College Representatives Visit Chesapeake Energy

Tags: , ,

A few months ago, representatives from Johnson College visited Chesapeake Energy.

Chesapeake Energy is the second-largest producer of natural gas, a Top 15 producer of oil and natural gas liquids, and the most active driller of new wells in the United States.

During the visit, over a dozen Johnson College faculty and staff members heard a presentation by Mike Narcavage, Chesapeake’s Corporate Development Manager, and then toured a drill rig and producing site.

A number of technical skill sets are sought after in the natural gas industry. Many of Johnson College’s Associate Degree program areas and Continuing Education opportunities, such as courses in the College’s Welding Training Center, currently provide specialized training to serve specific needs in the industry.

Rick Fornes ‘94, the College’s Electrical Division Chairperson, said, “The visit gave us firsthand knowledge of the industry’s work atmosphere so that we can properly prepare our students.”
