DR. ANN L. PIPINSKI
Ann L. Pipinski, Ed.D., has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson College since February of 2003. She joined the College in 1989 and served as Vice President of Continuing Education prior to her appointment as President.
Dr. Pipinski remains active in many community organizations. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Executive Board. She is also a member of the following boards: Everhart Museum, United Way of Lackawanna County, Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprises (LIFE), and the Child Advocacy Center. Dr. Pipinski has served on the board for over 15 years of the Women's Resource Center and is past Chair.
Active in professional organizations, she recently completed her term as a commissioner with the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT), a national accrediting agency, as well as Secretary of the ACCSCT's Executive Committee. Dr. Pipinski also serves as Chairperson of evaluation teams for the Division of Academic Approval for the Pennsylvania Department of Education since 1989. She is a member of Northeast Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities (NEPACU) which consists of regional college and university presidents.
Dr. Pipinski previously served as Chairperson of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Technology Institute (NPTI), an initiative sponsored by northeastern Pennsylvania colleges, universities, economic development groups, private foundations, and industry. A Battelle Memorial Institute study on northeastern Pennsylvania identified that in order to compete in the "new economy" the region must build on the assets of its colleges and universities.
Since colleges are key to economic development, Dr. Pipinski is active in the community in this regard. She served in 2005 as a panelist at the Lackawanna County Economic Development Summit: Proud Past, Promising Future. Her panel's topic was Our Hopes: What Are Our Economic Goals? How Do We Get There?. Recently she served on a Leadership Roundtable: Choosing and Effective and Just Economic Future, which was sponsored by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, the University of Scranton and The Scranton Area Foundation.
Dr. Pipinski received her doctoral degree from Temple University, her master's degree from New York University, and her bachelor's degree from Marywood University. She is a resident of Scranton, Pennsylvania.
