About Johnson College

A MESSAGE FROM THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

GREETINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome to the Johnson College website. I hope you will enjoy browsing through information about our programs, history, students and activities.

A recent visitor to campus commented, "This is not your father's Johnson Tech." The values and goals of Orlando S. Johnson have guided us through the years as we evolved from the Johnson Trade School to the Johnson School of Technology, Johnson Technical Institute and, now, Johnson College. The addition of 21st century programs such as Radiology Technology and Distribution & Supply Logistics Technology alongside programs that were offered when Johnson first opened in 1918 such as Carpentry and Machining are testament to the successful combination of educational values meeting practical needs.

In the past few years, we have made significant achievements in a number of areas: we introduced new technical programs, secured funding from public and private foundations, increased our scholarship awards and renewed our commitment to community service.

In the 2005/06 academic year, we invested $625,000 in equipment and facilities improvements. It is vital to our mission as a technical college that the hands-on education our students receive anticipates the experiences they will have in the workplace. Providing equipment that is current in today's world is expensive and we were very pleased that the largest portion of this commitment was allocated to technical instructional equipment.

We continue to have very strong placement rates for our graduates in their chosen fields. The majority of our students serve an internship in their second year and I'm pleased to report that approximately 80% of internships result in permanent employment. We are proud to be a partner in the on-going development of our regional economy by providing graduates who can meet the demand for career level technical jobs.

Johnson College welcomes a variety of professional, business and community groups to campus each year and we invite you to visit us as well to tour our facilities, meet our students and faculty and share our pride in providing "a technical education for a technical world."

Ann L. Pipinski, Ed.D. President & Chief Executive Officer
